Music Monday

Here are some of the tunes I've been listening to lately, check 'em out!

My most recent artist discovery, Foals. Their newest album Holy Fire just came out February 2013 and I am definitely enjoying it.

The music video for this song is actually clips from a movie called A Swedish Love Story produced in 1970, which is a classic in my book. Click here to watch on Youtube!

Good ol' daft punk, I've been a fan since I was 9 years old. I use to steal my brothers CD player and daft punk's Discovery and play it on repeat.

I love the animated storyline in this Gorillaz music videos.

Enjoy!

Nail Polish Favourites

Here are my top 5 favourite nail polishes!

1. Bikini So Teeny by Essie is a beautiful light blue cream colour with cornflower undertones and subtle silver micro-glitter. Perfect for spring!
2. Oh Cabana Boy by ORLY is a bright and lovely shade of neon pink. It has a neutral-warm toned pink base with iridescent purple shimmer mixed in. If you are looking for a bold pink for summer, look no further!
3. Rage by ORLY is a luxurious metallic rose polish with a beautiful foil effect. I enjoy wearing this basically whenever it suits my fancy. When I want a no-fuss nail polish I reach for this, one coat is all I need.

4. Days of Roses and Wine by SpaRitual is a deep shimmery plum colour that looks gorgeous on the nails during autumn and winter. This polish makes me feel very feminine and girly!

5. Pirouette My Whistle by OPI - This explosion of silver sparkles is magical on its own or as a top coat on any polish.

Homemade Iced Tea

It feels a lot like summer here where i live in British Columbia, and what's better on a hot sunny day than a tall refreshing glass of homemade iced tea!

I recently mastered the art of making homemade iced tea the way I like it. Strong and sweet with a twist of lemon and I would love to share my recipe with you :)
It is really easy, only takes a few minutes tops and you only need 5 ingredients that you more than likely already have in your kitchen!

Ingredients
6 cups of Water
3/4's a cup of Sugar
3 teabags of any tea of your choice ( I prefer Red Rose Orange Pekoe)
1 Lemon OR 1/4 a cup of Lemon Juice
Ice

1. Measure out the water into a pot and put on the stove top to boil.

2. Measure out the sugar and pour into the pot once the water is boiling.
Stir the mixture of sugar and water until all the sugar is dissolved.

 3. Place the teabags into the boiling water and let it steep for 1 minute.

4. Then removed the pot from the element and let steep for 3-5 more minutes

5. Remove the teabags and let the tea cool down for approximately 30 minutes.
Now that your sweetened tea has cooled down, pour it into a container or jug of your choice.

Fill the remainder of the jug with cool water.

And now you can either cut up a fresh lemon into slices and squeeze the juice out and put them into the jug, OR if you don't have a real lemon, measure out 1/4 a cup of lemon juice and pour that into the jug. Stir well, place in the refrigerator to chill and you are done!

When I get thirsty, I get a tall glass, fill it to the brim with ice and pour me some homemade iced tea.

Of course you can tweak the recipe to your liking.
I find that this delicious summer beverage curbs my craving for something sweet and it has a lot less sugar than a can of pop or juice and is much cheaper!

What do you like to drink on a hot summery day?

April Beauty Favourites

Here are a few things I've been loving and using everyday for the past few months.

The Moroccan Oil Treatment Light has been a favourite of mine for the past 6 months or so. I use it everyday on damp hair after I've showered and before I blow dry. It is a lighter version of the Moroccan Oil Treatment Original that is designed for people like me who have fine hair or light coloured hair. It is non-greasy and doesn't weigh down my hair at all. The ingredients include fatty acids, omega-3 oils, vitamins, and antioxidants that give it a beautiful shine and protect my hair from heat styling and sun damage.

Aveda's Control Force is a firm hold hair spray that has a hold that lasts all day long. I use this to set my curls or to hold my fringe in place. It even works great to get rid of unwanted flyway'

One of my sister gave me The Original Beauty Blender for Christmas last year and since then I've been switching between using it and my Samantha Chapman's Real Techniques Buffing Brush to apply my foundation. I love it! It is so easy to use and blends foundation into my skin like a dream.

I recently incorporated Vitamin C into my daily routine and I've noticed a huge difference in my skins appearance. I feel that since I started taking it once to three times a day the blemishes on my face heal faster, and are not as dry as they use to be. Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is key to the production of collagen, a protein that aids in the growth of cells and blood vessels and gives skin its firmness and strength. It also helps create scar tissue and ligaments, and it helps your skin repair itself. I highly recommend a Vitamin C supplement.

Ultra-Sleek Body Wash by Giovanni is a lauryl and laureth sulfate free body wash that contains finely crushed walnuts beads for a gentle exfoliation. It moisturizes and conditions skin with Moroccan Argan Oil and retains moisture and builds elasticity with Brazilian phyto-Keratin. I tend to have dry skin on my legs, arms, and especially elbows and this has helped to tame the dryness.

Fleurs De Cersier or Cherry Blossom Eau De Toilette by L'Occitane is the perfect scent for spring. This fragrance is described as evocative and feminine . It is a very fresh and light perfume that is not too strong or overpowering. I love to wear this scent during the day because it is so refreshing and it boosts my mood.

This is my very first blog post! I hope you enjoyed it!
More posts to come :)
